There is never a bad time to travel in Botswana. But the right time for you will depend on what you hope to see.
For big game in the Okavango and Chobe areas, the best time is Sept-Oct when the land is dry and the animals are concentrated around water holes and rivers.
The wet season of Dec – April offers other attractions. Once the rains start the Kalahari turns lush and green, attracting the bigger game. This is also the best time for bird viewing as all the migrants have arrived to spend the summer. The Makgadikgadi Pans see the migration of zebra and wildebeest in the early months of the year and in April the flamingos flock to the wetlands.
