Where & When

Trip dates are October 21 to 31, 2010.

This amazing safari will take you through some of southern Africa's prime wildlife viewing areas and the timing could not be better; late October is the height of the dry season when the game will congregate near remaining seasonal water sources such as the Zambezi and Linyanti rivers.Duma Tau sunset

The journey starts in Zambia and the Kafue National Park. The wide open Busanga Plains in the northern Kafue, provides habitat for some unique species such as Roan antelope, hartebeest and cheetah. Roam the plains in open safari vehicles in search of special photographic experiences.

The next park visited is Mana Pools, one of Africa's most scenic, with the Zambezi River and escarpment forming a spectacular back drop to any wildlife sighting. Photographic opportunities abound, with a variety of activities possible, including game drives, canoeing and boating.

Overnight at the Victoria Falls Hotel and some splendid moments at the grandest water fall of them all.

The Linyanti and Savuti river systems in northern Botswana will be teaming with elephant herds and you will be seeking the perfect shot of an elephant herd silhouetted against a setting African sun

All four camps are wonderfully comfortable with well appointed tented rooms each with ensuite bathrooms. We have booked 2 private safari vehicles at each camp; normally these vehicles seat 8 people, so with only five people there is ample room to spread out with your camera gear.

Access to each camp will mostly be by Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft that can seat 12 people; however we have booked out an entire aircraft to allow extra weight allowance for cameras etc.

October 21

Arrival at Lusaka International Airport in Zambia; you will be met by a Wilderness Safaris representative who will assist you to a light aircraft flight to Kafue National Park and Shumba Camp.Shumba Camp

The camp comprises six spacious luxury safari tents on raised platforms with breathtaking views of the surrounding plains. A maximum of 12 guests can be accommodated at any one time and great emphasis has been placed on the "guided" experience - being led by qualified, enthusiastic people with in-depth knowledge of the area and its wildlife.

This wealth of game on the plains is  a big attraction for predators, including leopards, wild dogs, cheetah and prides of lion up to 20 strong.
