The Best of Kenya

Posted on April 26th, 2013 by Mike Haines in Family Safaris, Safaris: Kenya.

Kenya is where safaris started. Today some Kenyan properties rival the luxury lodges found in southern Africa. Its spectacular scenery and wildlife provide arguably Africa’s finest wildlife experience. This ‘premier’ safari offers the best Kenya has to offer, and takes you from the plains of Amboseli at the foot of Kilimanjaro to the incredible wildlife haven of the Masai Mara. The Kenya experience is more than just wildlife; the cultural aspect influences each area you visit.

A 10-night journey starting outside of Nairobi, where you ease into the safari. Followed by three unique regions, Amboseli, Laikipia and Masai Mara. Each area providing a  variety of activities, from day and night game drives, walking safaris, mountain biking, horse riding, balloon flights and cultural interaction with local people.

Day 1

Evening arrival in Nairobi.
You will be met in the arrival hall by a driver from The Emakoko.
From the airport you will be transferred to Emakoko. The transfer takes you through Nairobi National Park, so expect to see some wildlife in the headlights.

The Emakoko is a family run, twenty-bed luxury lodge artfully built into the side of a valley, which borders the Nairobi National Park. Great care has been taken to incorporate the beautiful fig trees which grow on the cliff where the lodge is situated. All rooms look straight over the river and into the Park. The Emakoko, Nairobi National Park

The lodge is surrounded by the most beautiful trees, including the majestic Migumo (fig) trees which play an important part in Kenya’s traditions.
The lodge itself is  a mere 25- minute game drive from all important locations – Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Wilson Airport and Nairobi city attractions.  It is the location that makes The Emakoko so special, the National Park provides a buffer between civilization and the Lodge and yet everything is still within easy reach.

The Emakoko allows people to start and finish their safari in the wildlife environment they have travelled so far to enjoy. Within 20 minutes of clearing customs they can now be viewing game in the amazing Nairobi National park.  The only “transfer” delays likely to be encountered en route to or from The Emakoko are the natural pauses to watch a pride of lions or waiting for a Rhino or journey of Giraffe to cross the road.
