Mike Haines
Mike was born and grew up in Zimbabwe. Ever since he can remember, he has ventured into the African bush, spending time with family and friends exploring the wonderful National Parks in Southern Africa. He started his guiding career in 1986 at a small lodge in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe. After two years of guiding in Hwange, he joined Wilderness Safaris as a mobile safari guide. The mobile safaris took him to many different parks in Zimbabwe, Botswana and Zambia and provided him with an intimate understanding of how a safari should be run.
Mike still leads trips to Africa, though not on quite as regular a basis . He has led groups on recent safaris through Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Botswana and was in Namibia and South Africa in May 2008. Mike has an extensive knowledge of African flora and fauna and enjoys nothing better than showing people the wonderful beauty of the African continent.
Currently residing in Toronto, Canada, where Safari & Company is based. Mike's team in Toronto are adept at putting together custom itineraries with up to date knowledge of the areas and properties Safari & Company specialise in. This knowledge is constantly updated by regular trips to Africa to visit safari camps and lodges throughout Africa. Meeting guides and assessing new ideas and areas to include in itineraries, are all part of ensuring that the finest possible safaris are created for discerning guests.
